Support Groups
Because of the online format we have to host support groups, and giving the “Co”-Therapies theme we have, we run our support groups in a slightly different way. Every group has two hosts to “co”-facilitate the group. They would typically highlight a topic and then invite group members to join it, to make comments or give their insights, and most of all, to share their experiences they have had in life so that we can be witness to it and hopefully learn from it.
These support groups work because everybody in a particular group has the same kind of need, and are kind of willing to participate in this non-threatening, safe space. Please follow the links below to see which group would suit your needs best.
Most meeting are closed groups, meaning that there are limited space available and the same members participate and get to know each other over time. You would list your interest on the CoTherapies.com website, and if there is a facilitator that has an opening, he/she will contact you to first discuss your particular need and the see if there is a match between the timeslots available. It may be that he/she knows of an even more relevant group for you and will offer a referral for you.
The cost of this website and the initiatives funded by it, are supported by your monthly “Buy Me A Coffee”-donations. Whatever is within your budget range for a month’s weekly sessions, is acceptable, whether it is “us$1” up to “us$5”.
You may complete it with your registration for each support group your facilitator gives you an access code to, and once you are in a better place and able to cope on your own, you can de-register and end the monthly subscription.
Note that all kinds of contributions are seen as donations, so there will be no refunds or part payments or forwarding to another service provider, for any contribution made. Any arrangement made between you and a mental health professional or complementary therapy-service provider has nothing to do with CoTherapies.com. We only offer support groups and free resources, and then act as a platform for service providers in the field.
This is an international initiative, so check on the time-zones and the language preference of the groups you like to join. Also note that group facilitators are offering their service on a volunteer basis and are not remunerated in any way for their time. By making themselves available however, they enjoy the privilege of listing as a patron mental health professional, if they are qualified and registered to do so according to their country’s regulatory boards. And because of their widespread locations they are mostly accessed through online consultations.
Some facilitators are however not listed and does not actively practice in the mental health field. They feel comfortable in the type of support group they host because of their personal experience with it, wishing to offer value to others and find some purpose or meaning in their own lives through it. So let’s honour and thank them.
