Bodywork
as Complimentary Therapy
— Experiencing this moment, here & now
Yoga
Yoga is practised from a trauma-informed approach, with a focus on creating an awareness of one’s body and connecting oneself to one’s emotions. It is about learning control over your body. It is about recognising yourself in this body and noticing yourself in the here and now, having a particular experience. It is a gradual process of feeling safe in your own body.
- Independent facilitators offering individual or small group consultations, and weekly, group sessions
- Special nature venues can be arranged
- Private Classes and Corporate Group Sessions can also be booked on request
What to expect
Even just by itself, yoga is an extremely effective way to lower physical stress and emotional anxiety. The manner in which our practitioners combine bodywork with our other interventions results in a uniquely enhancing experience.
Bodywork gives you the means to connect with yourself in a deeply meaningful way. You will soon come to realise how your emotions get stuck in your body in a physical sense, and how much you could directly affect your emotional state through physical awareness.
Yoga uses physical movement, stretches and pressure to stimulate the flow of energy through your body. It is about teaching you self-regulation skills and exercises that you can practice yourself on a regular basis.
— Discharging your body
Tension Release Exercises
Through these exercises, you will be able to release the tension that your muscles are storing in response to stress.
Trauma is triggered in the body before the rational mind has time to discern whether the threat is real. Trauma counselling will be able to desensitise the triggers you perceive and reprocess past memories. Your body, however, still carries the pent-up energy and emotions which needs to be released in a safe environment.
- Independent facilitators offering individual consultations and group sessions
- Where home visits are possible, there will be extra travelling costs
What to expect
The practitioner will teach you about how your autonomic nervous system is activated in a fight, flight or freeze mode, due to chronic stress or trauma you experienced in the past.
You will then be led to activate these muscle groups and guided to discharge the energy that your body has been storing up for a long, long time. The effect of this release is often visible and sometimes even emotional.
By incorporating TRE with your own trauma and grief work you may be able to push through mental blocks and achieve resolution. These stress-reducing exercises are much like what earlier cultures achieved through their dance and rhythm rituals.
— Becoming conscious, courageous, compassionate & curious
Meditation
It doesn’t matter how you practice your stillness, just take this moment to become silent within yourself; recognising and allowing yourself to be here, now; experiencing this particular moment.
- Independent facilitators offering weekly, group sessions
- Special nature venues can be arranged
- Private Classes and Corporate Group Sessions can also be booked on request
What to expect
Every sitting, every moment of silence, is a new experience. Treat it that way. Be in awe of it and be in gratitude for it.
Your physical comfort or discomfort, every physical sensation, is to be taken for what it is. If it is hot, feel the heat and sweat. If it is cold, accept it for what it is – just external temperature. And if it is pain, just recognise it; be present with it fully. And after a while, let it go.
The same goes for your feelings and thoughts. Feelings are there to be felt, so allow yourself to feel your emotions. And recognise your thoughts for what it is; just thoughts. Thinking something doesn’t mean it is the truth. Think with curiosity and acceptance, instead of judgement and criticism. And after a while, let it go.
As with all group sessions, what you will experience is the collective energy generated by every participant. It is so much more than what you experience practising by yourself.
