Grief Support Groups

(Online, Weekly Meetings)

A place where we grieve and support each other due to a loss. Whether from the death of a loved one; a divorce or break-up; or for those of us who face forthcoming death due to a terminal illness.

  • Bookings are made for a month’s weekly sessions
  • On registering you will be notified of the dates & times for available groups
  • The cost is R790 per month
  • A patronage program is available to sponsor someone.  Businesses could also sponsor a group & be recognised & accredited for it (i.e. BEE or social development audits)
  • Discount is available on request (subject to approval & sponsorships available)

Guardian Support Groups

(Online, Weekly Meetings)

For families who are caring for someone with a long-term illness, dementia, mental disorder, addiction or eating disorder.

  • Bookings are made for a month’s weekly sessions
  • On registering you will be notified of the dates & times for available groups
  • The cost is R790 per month
  • A patronage program is available to sponsor someone. Businesses could also sponsor a group & be recognised & accredited for it (i.e. BEE or social development audits)
  • Discount is available on request (subject to approval & sponsorships available)

Vicarious Trauma Support Groups

For Medical Professionals, Veterinarians, Nurses, Carers, Paramedics, Firefighters, as well as Policing and Security Services

(Online, Weekly Meetings)

Grief & resilience support and information for those who deal with chronic exposure to trauma, suffering and death.

  • Bookings are made for a month’s weekly sessions
  • On registering you will be notified of the dates & times for available groups
  • The cost is R790 per month for Nurses and Carers, Paramedics, Firefighters & Police, and R1490 per month for Doctors, Specialists and Veterinarians
  • An outreach program is available for businesses to sponsor an individual/employee, and be accredited with it (i.e. BEE & social development audits)
  • Discount is available on request (subject to approval & sponsorships available)

1-Day Workshops

Workshops focus on processing & resilience skills and techniques to connect to others.

Other themes related to trauma & loss, like substance abuse or relationship issues, could also be addressed.

  • This program is compiled according to the client’s requirements, for groups of up to 15 participants
  • 4-hour and 6-hour programs are available, from R5,990 and R8,990
  • The cost depends on the venue and the program designed
  • The quoted price excludes other expenses, for example, special activities or refreshments and lunch
  • An outreach program is available for businesses to sponsor a workshop at a reduced price, and be accredited with it (i.e. BEE & social development audits)

3-Day Workshops & Weekend Retreats

The first theme is “Quiet Connection” where the discussions and exercises focus on introspection, resiliency skills, and skills to connect with oneself.


A second is for “A Stronger Self” where the discussions and exercises focus on exploring and developing safety, containment and resilience skills in the aftermath of a trauma and/or loss.  We also discuss the experiences around trauma and/or loss and exercise skills to process and integrate what has happened.  For first-responders and health professionals, we cover techniques on how to approach and assist patients/victims when stressed.

  • Arranged from Friday afternoons to Sunday mornings, or from Sunday afternoons to Tuesday mornings
  • Exclusive events can also be arranged for  groups
  • Depending on what is available at the venue used, we will also introduce you to complimentary therapies like forest bathing, meditation, yoga, equine- or plant-music therapy
  • The cost will depend on the venue, activities available, the program designed, and the number of people per sleeping unit booked
  • The quoted price will exclude personal expenses and using extra services at the venue
  • Events are kept to 20 participants or less, so best to register your interest and be invited personally to our next event in November

Field Trips

Field Trips are intended to be adventures.  Something that you would not normally do and that is out of your comfort zone

The value of it is that you get to push your physical boundaries and it’s physically demanding.  You get to discover your new limits and create a sense of confidence to face the future you may not think is possible.  You get to connect with yourself in new ways and redefine yourself

  • These adventures are arranged according to the clients’ interests
  • The cost depends on the activity selected and the facilitators and venues available
  • The quoted price will exclude other personal expenses, for example, equipment and clothing needed, training required, transport or refreshments and lunch
  • An outreach program is available for businesses to sponsor a field trip at a reduced price, and be accredited with it (i.e. BEE & social development audits)

Trauma Debriefing

Interventions to integrate and support those who went through a very stressful event like a robbery, violence, suicide, traffic accident or traumatic death.

  • This program is compiled according to the client’s requirements, for groups of up to 10 participants
  • Duration is 4 to 8 sessions
  • 2-hour sessions, from R2,390
  • The cost depends on the venue and the number of counsellors required
  • The quoted price excludes other expenses, for example, special activities or refreshments and lunch
  • An outreach program is available for businesses to sponsor a debriefing session at a reduced price, and be accredited with it (i.e. BEE & social development audits)

End-of-Life Doula

Assisting terminal patients and their families in processing the inevitable, and guidance in the arrangements before, during and after.

  • This is an in-person service at the clients’ home or hospital, in and around the Pretoria area
  • The initial date, time and place will be arranged on the registration
  • R790 per session, plus travelling costs
  • The sessions are between 90-minutes and 2-hours
  • The duration depends on the client’s needs
  • In Afrikaans or English

Counselling

The counsellor selected will determine the following:

  • Online or in person sessions at the counsellor’s consulting rooms
  • The cost may vary from R390 to R890 per session
  • Session length may vary from 50-minutes to 1-hour-45-minutes
  • Language, usually in Afrikaans or English
  • Duration is between 4 and 12 sessions per issue addressed

Counsellors are registered with ASCHP, SACSSP or HPCSA

Pain Management

Anaesthetists who specialise in the treatment of pain in terminal patients and those with long-term conditions like back pain.

This does not include cognitive or other kinds of interventions to deal with pain or the emotions involved. One-on-one counselling or skills training groups will be covering this part.

  • Normal medical specialists, working with medical aids
  • It may include anything from prescription medication, to in-hospital treatments, and surgery

Functional Medicine, Naturopathy, Ayurveda & Herbalists

Specialists that focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of health issues, rather than just treating symptoms. The body is viewed as a complex, integrated system where imbalances in one area can affect multiple aspects of you health.

It is a holistic treatment that takes into account the interconnectedness of various bodily systems, considering your unique genetic makeup, lifestyle choices, diet, environment, and medical history to create personalized treatment plans.

Note that with the exception of pain management and functional medicine specialists, we do not have any of the normal medical professionals listed as service providers. They may include medical doctors, oncologists, psychiatrists, chiropractors and other specialists.

This is because they are considered as the obvious first level intervention and are already widely known and utilised. Feel free to make use of them as well.
